(GUGC )Regarding IGC Housing Check-out options/Check-inperiod/Refundpolicy

Dear students,
 
 Due to the recent COVID-19 status in Korea, IGC Foundation has decided to allow students to check out by this Saturday and to guarantee 100% refund you decide to move out by August 29th. Please be advised that this decision was very challenging to make for IGC but was made solely for your convenience.
 
 In addition to this, IGC Foundation is considering the possibility of having a check-in period in October to support IGC Universities. However, the decision cannot be made at this point since fall semester instruction may change again depending on the COVID-19 situation in the country. This means that if IGC Universities decide to implement either a hybrid model or complete face to face lectures in October, IGC Foundation will work closely with them to fully support their academic schedules. Until then, we are providing the following options for fall 2020 IGC Housing.
 
 
v Check-out
Option 1) Permanent check-out(Type1)
  • If you already have checked in and want to withdraw yourself from IGC Housing permanently for fall semester , you need to visit IGC Housing website (https: housing.igc.or.kr) and on the “Check-out” page  choose “Permanent check-out” and fill out the necessary information. In addition to this, you have to send the refund form to IGC Housing e-mail( housing@igc.or.kr ) and leave the building by 16:30. Once you do both, it will be seen as you are checking out from IGC Housing permanently for fall 2020.
  • If you complete the permanent check-out process by August 29th 16:30, you will receive 17 weeks of housing fee back which is 100% refund( \ 1,912,500 for single bed / \ 1,275,000 for double bed). Based on IGC Student Housing regulations, you are supposed to receive only 75% refund if you decide to check out within 4 weeks from your check-in date but we are making an exception only for fall 2020.
  • If you choose this option, you will not be allowed to come back since your application will be removed from our system as soon as you fill out the permanent check out form. So if you are planning to come back or are not uncertain about this, you should not choose this option.
  • Those who already filled out the refund request before this e-mail will be contacted individually by IGC Housing office and you will be asked to choose your check-out type.
 
Option 2) Permanent check-out(Type2)
  • If you have not checked in by now , you need to visit IGC Housing website (https: housing.igc.or.kr). After this, on the “Check-out” page you need to choose “Permanent check-out” and fill out the necessary information. In addition to this, you have to send the refund form to IGC Housing e-mail( housing@igc.or.kr ) by 16:30. Once you do both, it will be seen as you are checking out from IGC Housing permanently for fall 2020.
  • If you complete the permanent check-out process by August 29th 16:30, you will receive 17 weeks of housing fee back which is 100% refund ( \ 1,912,500 for single bed / \ 1,275,000 for double bed).

Option 3) Temporary check-out (Type 1)
  • If you already checked in but want to check out temporarily , you need to visit IGC Housing website (https: housing.igc.or.kr). On the “Check-out” page you need to choose “Temporary check-out” and fill out the necessary information and leave your room by August 29th 16:30.
  • If you wish to leave your belongings in your room, you may do so but the password will be changed as you check out and you will be not allowed to access to your room afterward. Please take all necessary and valuable items with you when you leave. We are not going to charge you anything even though you leave them in your current room. However, if you are caught using your room even after you officially check out, you will be evicted from IGC Student Housing for one year and there will be no exception at all. In case of a double bed room, your roommate will also be evicted from IGC Housing for one year with you since the password will be changed once you check out and your roommate should be the only person who would know the new password.
  • If you choose this option, you are basically putting a hold on your housing application for fall 2020. Therefore, you should not request a refund by August 29th since we are going to keep your application in our system and allow you to check in in October(tentative) if your University decides to begin face to face lectures. In this case, the refund amount will be calculated on a weekly basis.
  • However, if the COVID-19 situation gets worse in Korea and your University decides to implement complete online lectures for the remaining fall semester, there will be no check-in period in October and obviously you will receive 100% refund.
  • Those who already filled out the refund request before this e-mail will be contacted individually by IGC Housing office and you will be asked to choose your check-out type.
Example)
Initial check-in date: August 16th
Temporary check-out date: August 26th  
Final check-in date: October 18th     
→ 8 weeks Housing fee(August 24st~October 16th) will be refunded since
From August 16th to August 23th has been provided as a free staying period
 
 
Option 4) Temporary check-out (Type 2)
  • If you have not checked in at all but want to check out temporarily, you need to visit IGC Housing website (https: housing.igc.or.kr). On the “Check-out” page you need to choose “Temporary check-out” and fill out the necessary information by August 29th 16:30.
  • However, if you request a refund your application will be removed from our system and you will not be allowed to check in for fall 2020 even in October. So if you are planning to come back or are not uncertain about this, you should request a refund in October or when it is confirmed that your University decides to conduct all lectures in online.
  • Those who already filled out the refund request before this e-mail will be contacted individually by IGC Housing office and you will be asked to choose your check-out option.
 
v Check-in
  • Check-in period: N o check-in on August 29th and New check-in date will be announced ASAP. 
  • Specific dates cannot be provided at this moment since they are subject to change depending on fall semester instructions from IGC Universities. Even though IGC Foundation does not take any role in the Universities’ decision making process, we will work closely with them to update you in a timely manner.
 
v Refund Policy
  • As mentioned above, you are eligible for 100% refund if you have not checked in yet at all. you are also eligible for 100% refund even though you already checked in but check out permanently or temporarily by August 29th .
  • If you are 100% sure that you will not come back, you may request a refund by August 29th  but you will not be allowed to come back since your application will be removed from our system as soon as you make a refund request. So if you are planning to come back or are not uncertain about this, you must request a refund after you check in in October. This is mainly because your final check-in date can be changed depending on the COVID-19 situation and Refund amount will be calculated on a weekly basis (Weekly rate: 112,500 KRW for singe bed and 75,000 KRW for double bed).
  • The above refund policy will not be applied to those who choose to stay for the remaining period and the following refund policy will be applied which is consisten with IGC Housing Regulations.
  • Students who move out within four weeks of their check-in date will be eligible for a 75% refund (must check out before September 20th).  
  • Students who move out within eight weeks of their check-in date will be eligible for a 50% refund (must check out before October 18th).   
  • Students who move out within twelve weeks of their check-in date will be eligible for a 25% refund (must check out before November 15th). 
  • Students who move out after twelve weeks will not be eligible for a refund.               

 

 As there are many concerns and uncertainties regarding IGC Housing, IGC will do its best to update you in a timely manner and will continue to work with IGC Universities to create adequate and sustainable residential halls.
